Hi friends!!!
Welcome back to my blog. This is my first post after UTS. Please don't be bored to read my post because all my post is useful for you to teach your students later. Now, in my first blog I will share about Flipped Classroom and TED Ed. What is that? Let's read my post until finish. :)
What is flipped classroom?
A flipped classroom is an instructional strategy and a type of blended learning that reverses the traditional learning environment by delivering instructional content, often online, outside of the classroom.
*Now, I hope you know what is flipped classroom before I talk about my experience.
Friends, I do not have any experience about flipped classroom because the teachers that have taught me still used traditional and standard method to teach the students. I think flipped classroom is very useful and effective in Indonesian classrooms because there are some benefits of flipped classroom.
The benefits for students : - Students can watch or listen the material at home and then solve
problems and apply the new knowledge in the classroom.
- When they don't understand a new concept, they can ask questions and
get immediate targeted answers.
- Students who are absent due to illness or any other reason, can catch up
with their peers faster and easier with the flipped classroom model.
The benefits for teacher : - Teacher can support students in better understanding the concepts
through practical application.
- The flipped classroom gives more freedom to teachers to decide upon
how much time to spend with each student.
Flipped classroom is one of the simple technique for teachers carry out the material. The teacher only need to decide the topic/material and then find the material from you tube and gives some questions. Based on my experienced, many teacher only ask the students to read the book about the material will discuss the next meeting. I think it is so bored to the students to do it or usually the students will read the book without understand the meaning of the topic/material so from the problems the teacher needs to change the standard technique to the new technique for example flipped classroom. Flipped Classroom will be successful if many subjects support this technique for example the parents and the students. The parents have to give facilitate for their children for example internet but I think it is not difficult for the parents because now many people have hand phone that can be connected in internet. The second is students. The students have to have responsibility to do flipped classroom. Do not be lazy to do it.

TED Ed is one of the flipped classroom technique. TED Ed is a lesson creator platform that allows you to structure an assignment around a video and assess students' engagement with the material. You can use any YouTube video you find or you can select from the specially-curated "TED-Ed Originals" section which features lessons co-created by educators around the world. I Think the benefits of this tool are this tool is easy to use and teachers can create their own lessons.
I made TED Ed and used "My Body Parts" for the topic to teach
vocabulary. The topic is for 1st grade students of Elementary School. The
objectives of the lesson are the students are able to name the parts of the
body and to identify and talk about parts of the body. If you have a question
why I choose 1st grade students of Elementary School is because many teachers
teach vocabulary for the Elementary students only use pictures. While,
vocabulary for elementary students is very important because most of the
material that is used for them contain mostly about vocabulary so if you have
another a new technique like using video song to teach vocabulary I think it
can help the students to remember the vocabulary easily. I think this tool is
not difficult for the students because I believe their parents will help their
children to open this tool. This tool is also have benefit for the students,
the benefit is usually children borrow their parents gadget to play games, now
their children can borrow it to learn new topic/material that will discuss in
the next meeting.
That's all friends about my post today. Don't forget to give comment or suggestion. Thank you.
